Materials and surface treatments

Powder coated steel in standard color yellow RAL 1003. Seat in oiled oak.

Oak

Oak is a heavy, hard and medium tough wood. Moderately dimensionally stable in case of moisture changes. Oak wood blackens if it is exposed to moisture or wetness for a long time. However, it does not affect the other properties of the wood. Thanks to its hardness and toughness, the oak wood is suitable for furniture and other use in exposed environments.

Steel

Nola uses high-quality steel with good strength in our products. Steel rusts if left untreated and must therefore be surface treated.

Wood oil

Wood oil provides good protection against the stresses of the outdoor climate and at the same time highlights the wood's natural appearance and properties.

Hot-dip galvanized

Hot-dip galvanizing provides very strong protection against corrosion. The steel is dipped into a bath of hot liquid zinc. The zinc attaches and creates a surface coating on the steel part, which is then taken out of the bath and drained of excess zinc.

Assembly and placement

Freestanding

Freestanding product that is placed directly on the ground.

Surface mount

Can be bolted above ground, to the floor or to a cast-in-place foundation. Bolts not included.

Parts are delivered and mounted on site.

Maintenance

Oiled oak

Oiled oak should be oiled twice a year for best protection. Good maintenance can never completely prevent stains from occurring, but oak that is not maintained will turn blacker and turn gray faster, but it still has a very long life. When re-oiling products, a finely boiled oil that penetrates the wood should be chosen over a film-forming oil.

Hor dip galvanized steel

Hot-dip galvanized can be touch-up painted with so-called "cold galvanizing".

Designers

Henrik Sørig Thomsen

Designer Henrik Sørig Thomsen, based in Århus with his own studio, graduated from Denmarks Designskole in Copenhagen where he studied industrial design. He has also studied cabinet making. Thomsen uses his combined experience as an industrial designer and cabinet maker when he designs furniture. His favourite part of designing is the process during the early stages, when anything is possible.

   – I like to work with objects that support our senses. Products we deal with every day must not distract from the essence, on the contrary, they must support and encourage free expression. A product is successful when the product continues to surprise and has an intrinsic indispensability.

Sørig has received several awards for his work over the years.
