Sala backe Pavilion is a sculptural and architectural structure, designed to create a sense of safety and presence. Like an illusion of greenery, the pavilion offers leafy shade through a tactile pattern, perforated into its roof and walls. It provides both shelter and transparency—a place where you feel seen but not exposed.
Made of steel, the pavilion is built to withstand weather and wear while offering great freedom in shape and colour. Its archetypal form and perforated pattern are inspired by Swedish Folkhem architecture. A nostalgic aesthetic that pays tribute to the legacy of Anders Diös, the developer whose influence still shapes this part of Uppsala where the idea for the pavilion was first born.
With its distinctive character, Sala backe Pavilion acts as a placemaking element in the urban landscape, a small landmark that invites rest, presence and brief pauses.
