Nola's pine is of high quality and comes from sustainable forestry. Pine is an environmentally friendly, domestically produced material. Damaged or untreated pine is quite easily attacked by decomposition processes; therefore, it is particularly important to repair damaged surfaces.
Our FCS-marked Ipé is an extremely hard wood thanks to its high density. The hardness gives remarkably high physical durability and resistant to the effects of sun, rain, and other weather over decades.
Wood oil provides good protection against the stresses of the outdoor climate and at the same time highlights the wood's natural appearance and properties.
After traditional impregnation according to NTR AB, the wood is boiled in a hot linseed oil with or without color pigments under vacuum. The oil is penetrated into the surface on all six sides, which reduces moisture absorption in the wood and gives a dimensionally stable product over time. The result is a dried product with good resistance to rot that also has long maintenance intervals. Linax-impregnated furniture is intended for outdoor environments only.

Ipé has a durability of up to 40 years if it is not treated with more than normal care. With regular oiling once a season with wood oil, the durability is up to 100 years. Untreated Ipé will turn from reddish brown to a more silver gray color over time. If you want to keep the brown color, it must be treated and maintained with wood oil.
Linax is a linseed oil-based impregnation that provides extra long durability in outdoor environments and corresponds to impregnation class AB. The impregnated wood turns gray over time, which means that it should be re-oiled if necessary. Use a linseed-based oil for impregnated materials.

Jonas Bohlin, född 1953, är inredningsarkitekt och formgivare och verkar i allt från möbler, armaturer, glas och textil, till konstföremål och installationer. Bohlin blev uppmärksammad för sin stol Concrete, under tidigt åttio-tal, som startade en diskussion om gränsdragningen mellan konst, konsthantverk och bruksvara. I decennier har han fört den svenska designtraditionen framåt och med sitt tydliga formspråk blivit en av landets främsta möbelformgivare. Bohlin var professor på Konstfack i Stockholm 2004-09. För Nola har Bohlin ritat ett flertal uppmärksammade möbler.
