At first glance, the bollard may appear to resemble an ordinary traffic deterrent, even though its sleek black surface is subtly traced in relief. But when the headlights of passing cars shine across it, the reflective material on the surface captures the light and reveals the crisp outlines of the fern leaves along the side. ‘Fern’ is an interactive design that brings an unexpected dynamic to the cityscape and brightens up long winter nights.
